Distribution Research

The 3rd distribution magazine process I researched was the Flea Market Decor magazine, which I used for earlier research and analysis. For distribution, they have a website just for the magazine and is not sold on the Better Homes and Gardens website. The website offers a subscription for digital, hand copy, and the combo offer at many different prices. If you have a subscription you get many other coupons too. They also display a link in which other companies or people can advertise them using a company called Engaged Media INC. The website has headings for many different types of projects such as how to repurpose items, decor inspirations, or flea market directory. When there are holidays near, there are links for projects or decor for that holiday such as how to throw an Easter party or Mothers day tea party. On the bottom of the home page of the website, the magazines are advertising other similar magazines such as Cottages and Bungalows, a magazine I researched and analyzed for my magazine.

Distribution Research

The second magazine distribution process I researched is one of the magazines I used before which was the Do it Yourself magazine. I found that the website used for the distribution, Better Homes and Gardens, was used for my previous distribution research for my Small- Space Decorating magazine. On the home page, the website displays the types of projects to do such as fabric projects, copper projects, DIY projects under $20 and way more. A text box displays the social media account  for Pinterest that has all do it yourself projects. The website also gives a feed back option to help show how they care about what the consumers want to see using their Facebook or email. Like my last research using this website, it also offers the option for a subscription so you can have multiple magazines whenever you would like. Since this website is used for multiple magazines, it shows the versatility and the connections it has to all the magazine sellers.

Distribution Research

The traditional magazine distribution is usually found on the website. For this research, I'm researching the Small Space- Decorating website. On the website, all the topics and themes are on the top header such as holiday, gardening, decorating...etc. And if the consumer needs a better search, there is a search bar for further assistance. Also, on the website they offer a subscriptions to have a new magazine each month. One of the offers put on the website page is "3 new magazines for just $10! Subscribe now". Underneath the topics and create profile options to choose from, there are the other social media accounts the magazine offers such as Facebook, Pinterest, twitter, and google. The social media accounts make it easier to find the things you love in the magazine. For example, on Pinterest, it allows you to create a board for anything you like in the magazines Pinterest page from decorating an apartment, house, bathroom...etc. Throughout the website there are post of several projects to make, hacks for small spaces, and things to buy plus many more. There are quiz post to help you find your decorating style in which the website will bring you to your theme after you find your results. There are also adds for home stores such as Rooms to Go if there might be a product in the magazine you need to purchase from there.

Revision 1- Article

For my Article revision, I started by adding page numbers to the bottom of the article, which I based on the flat plan I designed. I also added boarders to the images on the page to make them pop and grab the attention of the user. I changed the heading text to more of a festive style vs what it was, plain font. I changed the style of the text in the article also it was more fun for the audience. Here is my before and after...

Revision 2- Table of Contents

For the revision of my Table of Contents, I created some of the projects included in the magazine, and photographed them to fill in the 4 picture place holders. I made a deer head canvas, snowflake wall hanging, and paper christmas lights. I also put the page numbers you could find them on in the bottom right corner. I also made the text of the projects bigger to get rid of and fill up all the open space on the second page. Lastly, I changed the font of the heading "Contents" because I felt there was too much going on. Here is my before and after...

Revision 3- Cover

For my cover revision I changed the whole thing. I took a new photo of my paper christmas lights and deer head painting on shelf and added and extra decor piece. Do to the holiday season being over, taking the photo with other christmas decor couldn't happen since the decorations were put away. I added a new title for the magazine and more headlines all around the cover. I had the headlines be different colors to draw the audiences attention and had different fronts for the headlines and title. I added mini headlines to feature the projects that were in the photo and added the page number you would find them on.  Here is my before and after...

Super Bowl Commercial Analysis

One super bowl commercial was the advertisement for Tide laundry. It featured many different commercials blended together to make a parody. Some of the commercials included were the ones form old spice and Mr. clean. The advertisement used David Harbour from stranger things to draw the attention and promote the product. This commercial used comedy to draw in the viewers.

The second commercial aired during the super bowl was the Blaze Dorito and Ice Cold MT Dew. The commercial used rap music from the early 2,000's. This helped attract the older audience and some younger people. They used Bustarymes, Peter Dinhlage from the elf movie, and Morgan Freeman to attract viewers. Using famous people in commercials helps the advertisement since people know them.

The third commercial used was the Amazon Alexa. It had many famous people acting as the answering service to Alexa customers because Alexa was broken. The famous people used was Fat Amy, Cardi B, Dorse Ramsey, and the founder of Alexa, Jeff Baso. The audience meant for this commercial was for 16 and up. Many different people use the Alexa.

Target Audience Research- Small Space decorating

The magazine I researched was Small Space Decorating and I found that the target audience of this magazine was for people in their late 20's and older. This magazine does provide for a wide range of viewers since the male community is becoming more interested in the DIY projects. This magazine relates because they are both for home improvement. One way they marketed their product was on the web site Better Homes and Gardens. On the website they provided their other social media accounts.

Target Audience Research- Cottages and Bungalows

The Cottages and Bungalows Christmas magazine has a high target audience of 100,000 people love  their home. There is no specific gender who is interested in the magazine such it has such a wide diversity. Many of the the things sold or made in the magazine can be pricey so the audience must have a very good income level. The audience for this magazine is 30 and older for families. The magazine has a website that shows all the designs and projects for your home and decor. On the website, it provides the social media accounts so fans can follow them such as Facebook, Instagram, and Pinterest. Many DIY magazines market their products on Pinterest because that is a very useful app for designing and inspiration.

Target Audience Research- Do it Yourself

The first magazine I researched that has a similar target audience is the DO it Yourself magazine I analyzed earlier. The target audiences are similar because like my magazine, this is a DIY magazine with many different projects inside. To market their magazine, they had advertisements on Facebook and Instagram. They had printed their magazine and provided them in stores such as Walmart and craft stores. They have a website where they provide the projects also.
